Lord Save Us from Your Followers…

My friend Dan Merchant, aka Bumpersticker Man, was on the Today show yesterday. Tonight, he spoke to a crowd of top Christian booksellers in Nashville, Tennessee along with other notable artists and authors, Donald Miller, Chris Seay, and Jars of Clay.

I got a chance to hang out with Dan in the lobby of our hotel this evening and chatted about the whirlwind that is building speed behind this movie. Oh, did I mention he’ll be off soon to screen the movie at both Harvard and Yale?

I got to be honest, I was really proud of Dan tonight. It is always exciting to see someone continue to grow in their life, especially with that of spiritual matters. I say this with much respect as it has been Dan who has had an influence in my life these past several months. Quite frankly, this movie has caused me to open my eyes a bit more wider and to quit staring at myself. Plus, I just love the complete vulnerability that Dan shows concerning his faith. He makes me feel better about being on this journey. He makes me feel better about seeking to not overcomplicate things. He challenges me to be a better listener.

Tonight, here in Nashville, I feel all the more richer for spending time with my friend.
